John Hooper

Prof John Hooper joins AMTAR as an Affiliate Investigator. John is a Mater Foundation Professorial Research Fellow at Mater Research Institute – The University of Queensland where he leads the Cancer Biology Research Group. His research has contributed 4 patents and over 135 papers and he is currently leading phase 1 clinical trials evaluating one of his antibody-based theranostic agents for PET/CT based detection of cancers of the ovary, bladder, pancreas and breast. His discovery and translational research pipelines have the goal of developing new agents for detection and treatment of cancer with a current focus on theranostic agents, antibody-drug conjugates and agents for fluorescence-guided surgery. He works closely with clinical teams at Brisbane’s major hospitals with particular interests in aggressive malignancies of the breast, and genitourinary and gastrointestinal systems.
