Title: Patient Advocacy, Research and New Product Development. How a Not-For-Profit Can Help Bring Innovation to Patients.

Abstract: Patient Advocacy groups have long promoted and supported the need of various patient cohorts, to better improve awareness of the disease they are committed to. As part of their activities, raising funds is a strategic pillar which drives the sustainability of various activities. As part of their fund raising, partnering with industry helps contribute to these planned activities as well as promote new treatments and therapies that are still in the research phase. Done well, these partnerships do more than fund activities: they bring the patient voice into the development of new therapies while they are still in research. Done poorly, they risk compromising independence and trust. This talk examines how advocacy groups and innovators can build collaborations that are transparent, sustainable and mutually beneficial.  Where possible, examples will be illustrated from Theranostics with Oncothera Advocacy’s experience.

Nicholas Trpezanovski has over a 3 decades of expertise in medtech and healthcare leadership and is currently serving as Director and Board Member at Oncothera Advocacy, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving patient access to theranostics. Oncothera is working to improve awareness, education, collaboration and access across the healthcare ecosystem.
