AMTAR researchers recently  had the privilege of visiting our industry partner AdvanCell at their production facility.

The visit offered a firsthand look at AdvanCell’s impressive setup and their growth across R&D and towards GMP production of Pb-212. It was a fascinating insight into the level of planning, precision, and innovation required to build and operate such a facility.

For AMTAR research fellow Alexander Martyn, a key takeaway was understanding how sites like this are paving the way for a blueprint model for Pb-212 production across North America and Europe. By refining processes and improving key parameters, future production sites around the world can become more effective.

This visit also reinforced the importance of strong academia-industry collaboration. When we work together, the benefits are amplified — not just for research and commercial outcomes, but most importantly, for patients by helping accelerate access to targeted radiopharmaceuticals.
